Geologic Controls on the Springs of the Arkansas Ozarks
The talk will briefly summarizes an upcoming book he has written that is in review on the Springs of Arkansas, and focuses on the tectonics and aquifer lithologies that control spring attributes in the Ozarks.
Bio:
Our speaker, Van Brahana, has more than 60 years of experience as a professional geologist. Among other jobs, he has worked for the Illinois Geological Survey, been a Research Hydrologist with the USGS, most recently served as a Professor of Geosciences with the University of Arkansas, taught as an Adjunct Professor at 5 universities, and has conducted numerous consulting studies in Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The focus of his work has been hydrogeology, with major diversions into tectonics, karst, geophysics, and environmental geology. He has published more than 90 papers and book chapters, and edited a book of studies for a conference he chaired of the International Association of Hydrogeologists.
